Mr Teuber is Professor of Theory and Composition at the University of South Carolina, and was also instructor of horn when this piece was written. For the Dorn Horn Trio, he supplies the following succinct program notes: "The trio is named after the building that houses that splinter group of our department known as the wind faculty. We are isolated from the main building by two blocks and some of us tend to "hang out" and read whatever ensembles we can get our hands on. The Dorn Horn Trio was written because we ran out of trios."

Turner, K: Chaconne
With the Chaconne I wanted to use a compositional form that was
consistent with this style of music but at all the same time consistent
with my own compositional "sound".
I have long been fascinated with the famous Chaconne from the Partita
No.2 in D minor for solo violin by J.S. Bach. The rather melancholy
theme which drones on throughout the piece. Even though perhaps the
theme is not actually being played, the harmonic and rhythm variations
thereof keep it alive.
If the listener is constantly reminded of Bach Chaconne during the
piece, then my goal is completed.
