Amateur Chamber Music Society
The ACMS is an Australian mailing list of people who are interested in playing chamber music. We are currently looking for more horns to join. Our current membership is about 300 people from mainly Sydney but also around Australia. It includes string, wind and piano players of varying ability levels and ages.
Involvement in the group at a minimum is to pay the membership fee and receive the membership directory and the regular newsletters in the mail. At a maximum you can get involved in ad hoc chamber music playing at people's houses, attend the organized playing days (5 per year. Held on Sundays), go to the 3 day Wollongong camp on the Australia day long weekend. Perform in a Sunday sunset concert (held about every 2 months at Kirribilli neighbourhood centre), get involved in the much smaller Blue Mountains playing days. All involvement is entirely optional.
We have a committee which runs things and another committee which does the Wollongong camp. The group has been going for over 20 years.
We also have a library which currently has around 500 items, many only recently purchased. In this listing are around 50 pieces for wind quintet. We also have many other pieces involving horn including 4 quintets for horn and strings.
