Recordings featuring Hector McDonald
After a background playing in Brass Bands around Sydney, Hector moved onto French Horn when he was eighteen. Within three years he was appointed second horn of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Two years later he was engaged as Solo Horn with the Berlin Radio Orchestra. In 1980 he returned to Australia to teach at the Canberra School of Music. In 1989 he returned to Europe to take up the position of Solo horn with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, he also plays first horn in the period instrument group Concentus Musicus. Hector maintains a rigorous schedule of solo and teaching engagements throughout Europe.
